I don't know if I can "be hypnotized."
If you have read over the information given elsewhere in this web site, you know by know that hypnosis is not something done to you, but something you do for yourself in accordance with your particular talent or ability.
Hypnosis is basically absorbed attention combined with imagination or suggestion.
Because I know that the hypnotic experience is natural, normal, and occurs in everyone’s everyday life, I am never concerned about “hypnotizability,” especially for people who are focused on successfully accomplishing an important life goal.
But what do I mean by "focused attention"?
You can find out what kinds of things are meant by “focused attention” by pressing the audio button above and listening a read list of statements.
This is a brief 10 statement sample from something called the Tellegen Absorption Scale and will only take a few minutes. We are NOT doing hypnosis, but simply making statements that you can answer “yes” or “no” to that will help you understand a little better your own ability to focus.
So just sit back in your chair, ideally with your eyes closed so that you can focus your attention inwardly, or, if you prefer them to be open, just softly focus your eyes on some point and breathe freely and easily. As you listen to each of the 10 statements, just keep a little tally of your yes or no responses. OK, let’s begin.
