FAQ

Do you see people at night or on weekends?

My counseling practice is very limited at this time. I have office hours Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Within this time frame, I make every effort to be as accommodating as possible.

Do you work with couples?

I will sometimes meet with the spouse or partner of someone who is working with me, and occasionally have a few very focused counseling sessions with them as a couple. That said, I do not work with couples in high conflict situations.

If you are interested in marriage or couples counseling, I strongly recommend you find someone who specializes in couples therapy.

Do you see children?

I work with adults ages 18-65, but most of my clients tend to be between 35-55 years old.

Are there any problems that you don't treat?

Yes. No one can treat everyone for everything, and I am no exception. My office hours are very limited. I do not carry a beeper or have 24 hour availability. Anyone who is in a crisis situation and who may need after hours support should find a therapist who is skilled in crisis work and has 24 hour availability.

Furthermore there are certain issues that are best helped by specialist who focus the majority of their training and experience in these areas. The types of problems that I refer to other clinicians to treat include (but are not limited to): severe depression and the presence of suicidal thoughts, seriously debilitating panic, substance abuse, sexual addiction, bi-polar,  borderline conditions, and eating disorders that are life threatening. If you are dealing with any of these issues, I strongly urge you to seek psychiatric care. A good psychiatrist will help you with medical support, as well as help you find a well-qualified therapist.

If you have a question about whether or not I might be an appropriate resource for you, please feel free to contact me. I am happy to speak with you and help you find the right person for you if I am not the one.

"The purpose of therapy should be to help people get un-stuck, not to endlessly muck around in how they got that way."
